Katakana Practice Sheets

kanjidraw.com

All 46 basic katakana with stroke order — trace the grey guides, then write your own in the blank squares.

Tap a kana to add it to the sheet or remove it before printing. Includes base kana, dakuten (voiced) and diphthongs.

Pick at least one kana above to build the sheet.

About these worksheets

Katakana is the second Japanese syllabary — the same 46 sounds as hiragana, but used for foreign loanwords, names, onomatopoeia and emphasis. Each free printable sheet walks you through the stroke order of every kana, gives a grey stencil to trace over, and leaves blank squares to build muscle memory. Practice katakana once your hiragana is solid.

How to use them

  1. Pick the kanji you want in the set above — or click Select all.
  2. Click “Print / Save as PDF” to generate your sheet.
  3. Print the sheet and practice yourself, or hand copies to your students in class.

Each row builds the character up one stroke at a time one after another, then gives a grey stencil to trace and blank squares to write it from memory.
