A Day at the Farm
Mina's class takes a trip to a farm. From early morning — a bicycle, a train along the tracks, cows and pigs, heavy buckets and a little arithmetic. That evening at home she opens her notebook and writes the story of the day, with herself as the main character.
~について means “about / concerning (a topic).”
~ようだ — “it seems / looks as if,” an inference from what you observe.
~みたい is a casual “like / similar to,” the colloquial cousin of ~よう.
~ので means “because,” a soft, objective reason (politer than から).
Dictionary form + のは nominalizes an action into a subject (“doing X is …”).
Mid-sentence が means “but,” softly contrasting the two clauses.
