〜ながら: doing two things at once

ながら joins two actions by one subject, and the main action is the one at the end — which is the opposite of what English word order suggests.

Two actions by one person at the same time: A-ながら B (B is the main action).

音楽を　聞きながら、勉強します。

おんがくを　ききながら、べんきょうします。

I study while listening to music.

ながら attaches to the ます-stem (聞きます→聞き). Both actions are done by the same person simultaneously; the second clause is the primary action.
