〜はず: it should be the case

はず states what follows logically from what you know. It is not obligation — that is べき — but expectation.

A logical expectation based on evidence: 〜はずです.

彼は もう 着いているはずです

かれは もう ついているはずです。

He should have arrived by now.

はず states what you logically expect to be true given the circumstances (not just a guess). Negative: 〜ないはずです or 〜はずが ありません (couldn't possibly).
