Expectation はずA logical expectation based on evidence: 〜はずです.
彼は もう 着いているはずです。
かれは もう ついているはずです。
He should have arrived by now.
はず states what you logically expect to be true given the circumstances (not just a guess). Negative: 〜ないはずです or 〜はずが ありません (couldn't possibly).
