The particle へ: direction of movement

へ marks the direction of a movement and is written with the kana へ but pronounced 'e'. Where に names the destination, へ names the heading — often interchangeable, not always.

京都 行きます。

きょうとへ いきます。

I'm going to Kyoto.

へ marks the direction/destination of a movement verb. Like topic は, the particle へ is written は/へ but pronounced “e”.
